The session started with the Mountain Quiz “Recognizable Mountains of the World”. The images of popular mountains were shown to the group .They had to name the mountain and the country where it is located. The Moderator offered helpful tips to make the task easier. The particular attention was drawn to the mountains popular in the English-speaking countries (the Rock of Gibraltar, the White cliffs of Dover, the Ayer’s Rock).
Promoting mountain products is the theme chosen for this year’s celebration of International Mountain Day. Globalization offers opportunities for mountain producers to market their high quality mountain products. The group was offered a slide show about the Ukrainian mountain products. Their task was to describe them to the American volunteer Mr. Jason. The wider range of goods is produced in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains as compared to the Crimean Mountains.
The second part of the session was dedicated to the presentation of the USA mountain ranges. The group was impressed with the video that explained how mountains form the climate in the USA. They enjoyed the video about the iconic American area – The Monument Valley. The most popular ski resort in the USA – Aspen- was also introduced to the group.
To wrap up the session we talked about the mountains visited by the club members and the places they dream to visit.
The club members enjoyed the topic and were glad to share their experiences in the mountains of Ukraine and abroad.
