This afternoon the Gabfest Club members (Window on America center, Dnipro, Ukraine) had a Speed English session. The space topic was welcomed by all participants as they live in the space capital of Ukraine and are proud of that.

The Gabfest English speaking club members had a "Speed English" activity. In small groups or pairs the Club members remembered their childhood collections and boasted about the modern investments into vintage and collectible items.

Speed English: Internet vs. Libraries.
Speed English session in the Gabfest Club was dedicated to the topic «How will the Internet change the function of libraries?». The club members discussed the atmosphere of libraries, libraries’ changes, the best library they’ve ever been to, and other.
Today the group of Gabfest Club’s members observed the international “Car Free Day”. In pairs or small groups the group discussed the issues of impact the cars have on the environment.

World Car Free Day, which is celebrated on September 22, encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day. Organized events are held in some cities and countries. According to The Washington Post, the event "promotes improvement of mass transit, cycling and walking, and the development of communities where jobs are closer to home and where shopping is within walking distance". Studies showed that for short trips in cities, one can reach more quickly using a bicycle rather than using a car.
The topic for the Speed English in Dnipro Window on America center was charity and volunteerism. The participants talked about their own participation in charity and civic projects.
The practice of charity means the voluntary giving of help to those in need, as a humanitarian act.
The word "charity" entered the English language through the Old French word "charité", which was derived from the Latin "caritas".

Speed English at Dnipro WOA: Vandalism”.
This afternoon the Speed English activity at Gabfest Club in #DniproWOA was dealing with the topic “Vandalism”. The WOA’s foreign guests actively participated in the conversations. They have discussed what is often vandalized in our city and how we fight vandalism.

The Gabfest English speaking Club members (at Window on America center in Dnipro, Ukraine) was offered an educational game "Speed English". The topic for the conversation in pairs was “My Dream Vacation”. This topic was relatively easy to discuss, so the members of the club talked with pleasure and stayed longer than usual.

Today’s Speed English (at the Window on America center in Dnipro, Ukraine) was quite interesting and touched the hearts even of those who did not like to study history at school. Discussions in pairs made us so enthusiastic in our considerations on the past and the future of our Ukraine that we forgot about the time and extended the time assigned for the Speed English event.
It is pleasant to note that there are people among us who feel that are ready to create the new history of contemporary Ukraine!

This afternoon the Speed English participants (Window on America center in Dnipro, Ukraine) discussed the arrival of summer and talked about different aspects of this wonderful season.

Speed English appeared to be especially cool this time. Sometimes when there are many people and native speakers we divide into few groups and this time we did it as well so we had a great pleasure to communicate with our American friends during this Speed English session as nothing beats practicing speaking English with native speakers, and that’s why we can say that nothing beats Speed English session with American native speakers, in other words this Speed English was upbeat.
Taking into account that we do not have a possibility to speak English with foreigners every day (which would be ideal for us in order to speak English fluently), we especially enjoyed this opportunity to communicate with them in a very intense and interactive way which is proposed in Speed English. For each conversation with one partner we had three minutes, and questions were usual as they were not about the topic which was during the informational part of the session. But some of them were extraordinary for us, especially question about the craziest thing in life, so we as speaking club members can say it made us think in an unusual way to answer such question, which was really upbeat. No wonder that communicating in groups with American native speakers at Speed English was so efficient for us and inspiring that we enjoyed communicating with our American friends after this session, feeling hungry for another Speed English.
