WOA’s series of library events for school children in May consisted of 9 events for school children of various ages – from primary school to high school.
Today’s meetings at Window on America center Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine ware dedicated to the topic “The 180th anniversary of the DOUNB Library”. Window on America center invited a group of schoolchildren from local school no. 23 and no. 22 (with focus on the English language study).
A slide show about the history of the DOUNB library explained the role of the ethnic foreigners (Herzenwitz , Ullmann , Reimer ) in the development of the Library in the 19th century. Interesting historical facts and rare old books from the library funds were presented to the group.
Svitlana U. showed the children an animated cartoon about the rules of conduct in the library. The cartoon explained how to select and borrow books from the library; how to return the books in time and to keep them in good condition. The children enjoyed the American cartoons about the library.
The group enriched their English vocabulary with new words for the topic “Library. Books. Reading.”
The lecture was funny, informative and educational.
Number of participants – 57 persons.
