Library and Museum go together

Today’s іn the first part of the session of the Gabfest club (at Window on America center Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine), our club members visited the local Historical Museum. We decided to carry out today’s meeting in this format in honor of the long lasting friendship between the library and the museum. Valentina Kovalenko invited us to her lecture in English. It was a good opportunity to broaden our outlook and learn the new words.

To our surprise, we found out that in the museum, there is an interesting item referring to the past of both the Ukraine of 1920 and the USA. It is a nicely looking cash-machine of American production (almost in perfect condition), used in Ukraine during the NEP period.
On returning back from the excursion, we discussed what we had seen in the museum. Also in the second part of the session, the club president, Vlad V., carried out a quiz activity concerned to the USA and other English-speaking countries. The audience showed the interest and the desire to participate. Then, the quiz provoked a conversation, which was lively and enjoyable.

But the work of the club did not limit its activities with this. The third session is reasonable to be singled out. In it, some of the honorable club members decided to organize a spontaneous discussion on US travelling experience. Vividly supported by the librarian, Svetlana Usenko, the talk lasted until around 17.30 p.m. “It is really good when people can share the own experience and really know what they are talking about. Not just picture watching experience”, said A. Myrgorodskaya.
Number of participants – 16 persons.
