Day of Knowledge - Google

We sow a reasonable, good, eternal...
Today’s session of the Speaking Club at Window on America center Dnipropetrovsk assembled a large number of Ukrainians and a big group of the visitors from the USA.
We started the meeting with the introduction of the new comers.
Today’s date in Ukraine is a special day for people who study – it’s an official Day of Knowledge. The club members explained to our American friends the rituals common to Ukrainian tradition – the First Bell ceremony at schools and the Credit Book introduction for freshmen. Jacob, the American boy who started his school year at a local school, shared his impressions of the First Bell ceremony.
For the adult club members the «Lifelong Education» concept was introduced and briefly analyzed. Researching is an important element of the Lifelong Education Approach. Internet search is done by search engines. And the most popular search engine in the world is Google.
The official topic of the session was dedicated to Google. We have watched several You Tube videos illustrating the history of Google, curious facts about the company and controversial things in its activity. The American guests shared their opinions about this company.
The club members were given a task to find a proper name and logo for our club. We hope that for the next session we’ll be able to choose from several variants.
The session was a success and enjoyed by all the participants.
The number of visitors – 26 persons.
