The Activate English Group at DOUNB library is an integral part of the EXPRESS-ENGLISH course offered to the Window on America Dnipropetrovsk readers in year 2016.
The year 2016 in Ukraine is the year of the English Language. The Activate English Group was created for people who have been studying English for several years, but are too shy to speak.
The objective of the course is to activate the passive knowledge and enable the students of English to express themselves in English no matter how small might be their vocabulary.
The participants of the group will be offered some revision activities to refresh their grammar skills. The vocabulary for the topics will be presented and illustrated with native-speaking videos to activate their comprehension skills.
The activation of the speaking skills will take place during the conversation pair practice.
The materials for the Activate English Group are compiled and presented by the qualified ESL teacher. They are based on original textbook by the reputable language house “Macmillan” and various free on-line resources for ESL study.
All the participants found the session educational and helpful.

The American Teen Club meeting was dedicated to the topic "Speaking and Board Games".
"Window on America" center hosted American Teen Club members, Dnipropetrovsk teenagers, who are willing to improve their English language, get to know about the United States and have a good time! The meeting was lead by the FLEX alumni Hanna Akastjolova.
Everyone was engaged and practiced their speaking skills!
Today the WOA Dnipropetrovsk centre welcomed back our American friends – Mr. Keith and his son Jacob. They are visiting Dnipropetrovsk for several weeks and will join the Gabfest Club activities.
An active Club member Vlada told the guest about the project she prepares for one of the sessions. The scientific presentation will involve the biological experiment with the plants growing in different rooms of the DOUNB Library building.
Vlada fetched a real microscope for this project and the WOA staff arranged for her a real researcher’s work station. The American guests listened with interest to Vlada’s story about the objective of her experiment and used the opportunity to observe through the microscope various biological materials. For Vlada that was a wonderful chance to practice her English with native speakers.
