Well, we started a project that will popularize reading of the literature on art from the library collections. The goal of the project is to form the basics of the artistic outlook using as samples the creative works of American artists, painters and musicians.
We dream to expand the knowledge of the Dnepropetrovsk technical universities students
’ on American culture , to  develop their artistic tastes and respect for the culture of the American people.

The "U.S. Art Residence in Dnipropetrovsk” project started with the WOA’s visit to the local high school No. 22. to present a lecture “US Music”. The 6th-11th year students learned a lot of curious facts about the history of the American music. They have listened to the musical fragments that introduced typically American styles of music: jazz, country, pop, rock, disco, zydeco, gospel, etc. They also learned about the world known American opera composer – George Gershwin – and listened to some tunes from his cult opera “Porgy and Bess”. The students learned about the musical instruments that are specific for each of the above musical styles and learned new vocabulary. A challenging task was given to the students - to write an essay “Music in the USA” and express their attitude to this music. The students with interest examined the books and images that illustrate the topic as a book display at the Window on America Centre. All the interested student were invited to join the events with the native speakers on the premises of the DOUNB Library. The information on the USA musical culture was spread to more than 250 persons audience (students and teachers).

The school students actively participate in tests for the FLEX exchange program. When somebody will be selected for the exchange he /she will be well prepared to enjoy American music.
Number of participants – 250 (10 teachers + 240 pupils).
