Opera House

Today’s session at the GABFEST speaking club (at Window on America center Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine) had a topic “OPERA HOUSE”.
We have read and translated an article about the traditional layout of the opera house. From the article we have learned a lot of useful terms which are used for different areas of the Opera Theater. A typical opera house consists of several zones:
• a stage and backstage,
• an orchestra pit,
• the auditorium,
• facilities for costumes
• set building.

We have learned a lot of practical information about the advantages and disadvantages of such prestigious seats as the stalls and boxes.
The information was illustrated by several videos. The most impressive was the video tour of the backstage at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the world famous theater of enormous size.

The unofficial part of the session was a conversation with our new club member from Nigeria. Toby told us about his home country and answered several questions asked by Ukrainian club members.
