Read our books, read with us, read more than we do!
The DOUNB librarians keep urging the patrons to read more books, to learn English in free Library projects, to participate in the WOA Dnipro’s Conversation clubs. Today the Librarians’ efforts are complemented with a colorful decoration in American style. The installation is made in the shape of the Big Book, on its pages one can see popular US film and cartoon characters who also read, study and plan their successful future!
Our American friend, volunteer Mr. Stephen was glad to see on the Big Book page the characters from his favorite film – "The Big Bang Theory". The Historical Museum researcher Sergiy shows the gesture of approval to the chance to study English. Some people were puzzled with the image of Flash, the "fastest" three-toed sloth, as they do not follow American cartoons and do not know this slow character from "Zootopia" cartoon.

Activate English Group 5.7.: «My favorite book is ...»
The DOUNB Library and the Window on America Dnipro center offer the library patrons an “Express English” activity that will help them to activate their passive knowledge of the foreign language and to overcome the fear of speaking in English.
This afternoon the Activate English lesson was attended by the American volunteer Edison and his friends Yevgen. The students had a chance to practice their conversational phrases and ask the American guest different questions. We had a good laugh explaining to Edison some local superstitions – not to do anything across the porch, not to sit at the corner of the table, and some others. Edison told the group what he considers good souvenirs from Ukraine.
The second part of the session was dedicated to the thanking phrases; the home task is to prepare conversation about “WORK”.
