Through the month  – From Xmas to Xmas.

Window on America center in Dnipro offers to the patrons a book & image #display “From Xmas to Xmas”. The books from WOA’s collection introduce the US Christmas celebration traditions and how other – ethnic groups of this multicultural nation embrace the Christian holiday.

The display showcases the winter sports, ski resorts and winter festivals popular in the USA. Colorful images illustrate Christmas and winter landscapes in the USA.

Our collection of Xmas and winter themed movies is showcased as well for WOA patrons who enjoy a good plot in any genre – comedy, drama or thriller.

Spring in the USA

Through the month March -  Display «Spring in the USA».
The "Window on America" center presents to the patrons a book- and- image display "Spring in the USA" to observe the Women's History Month in the US and International Women's Day in Ukraine.
The exhibition introduces to the visitors outstanding women who contributed to the political, cultural and sport history of America. Among them - the First Ladies of the United States, the fighters for women's rights and the abolition of slavery; women-writers and poets, journalists, doctors, athletes, teachers, musicians, representatives of ethnic minorities and simply beautiful women.

Book display “Outstanding Americans”

Information and Resource Center "Window to America" Dnipro invites everyone to learn more about the prominent personalities  of the United States. On the displayed book covers and pages, the center’s patrons will see the portraits of the first US presidents and their wives, politicians, poets and writers, athletes, musicians, cinema figures. All of these people are revered by the American people. Ordinary Americans love them and are delighted with their achievements.
All materials are donated to the DOUNB library by the US Embassy in Ukraine and the Saber-Світло Foundation (USA) within 25 years of friendship between Ukrainian and American people.

Christmas Fun in the Library

New Year’s Atmosphere.
The "Window to America" Information Center invites you to learn more about Christmas and New Year traditions of the USA. Travel guides, artwork, photos, Hollywood movies on DVD, Christmas decorations, hand-made postcards – all this will please the eye and create festive mood for WOA’s visitors.
All materials are donated to the DOUNB library by the US Embassy in Ukraine and the Saber-Світло Foundation (USA) within 25 years of friendship between Ukrainian and American people.
 

Book Display: Verity in a Dictionary

To commemorate the US Dictionary Day Window to America center in Dnipro presented to the patrons the display of dictionaries from its collection - Verity in a Dictionary. The US Dictionary day is dedicated to the birthday of Noah Webster (October 16) – the American linguist, lexicographer, author of the American English Dictionary
The WOA’s dictionaries are colorful and actively used.
We invited WOA’s patrons to show their favorite dictionaries. Maryna Repan on Webster’s New World College Dictionary: “I see a lot of information, convenient layout, easy search, original design of the pages”
Valentyna Kovalenko on Webster’s New World College Dictionary: “I was amazed to find in the US biographical dictionary information about the Ukrainian hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky!”
All ditionaries were donated to the DOUNB Library by the US Embassy in Ukraine and the Sabre-Svitlo Foundation within the 25 years of friendship between the Ukrainian and American people.

 

Memory Day 9/11 at Window on America Dnipro

 Sixteen years ago about three thousand Americans and other countries citizens died. Among them were 12 people with Ukrainian roots. Terrorist attacks took place in New York and Washington. September 11 became the day of remembrance and a day of solidarity against international terrorism. "Window to America" Dnipro Information and Resource Center presented the table display that reminds about the victims and heroic actions of rescuers and firefighters. This terrorist act has changed the peaceful life of the United States. People are united against the external threat.
Participants number – 12 persons.

Library makes the World go round

Book Display: Library makes the World go round
Information and Resource Center "Window to America" continues to showcase its collection and offers the patrons a book display "The Library makes the World go round". September is the month when people in the USA pay tribute to the victims of the September 11th terrorist attack in New York. Other important dates are observed globally and in Ukraine, among them: the International Day of Democracy (September, 15), the Dnipro City Day, the Translators’ Day, the International Tourism Day and the All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries.
WOA Dnipro can offer interesting literature for these dates as well as for many other topics. We invite everyone who studies English, the language of international communication, and the culture of the United States to get acquainted with the book display. It features socio-political literature and fiction. The display’s centerpiece is the wonderfully illustrated   tourist guide "White House - Residence of the President of the United States". All books were donated to the DOUNB Library by the US Embassy in Ukraine and the Sabre -Svitlo Foundation within the 25 years of friendship between the Ukrainian and American people.
The previous generations’ knowledge and wisdom are stored in the libraries of the world. After learning it the humans may improve themselves and make this world a better and a smarter place.
The display was reviewed by WOA center patrons (150 persons).

Summer Reading

The "Window on America" Center Dnipropetrovsk presented to the patrons a new book display "Summer Reading".
Tamara Gavrilyuk likes to read detective stories. Marina Repan got interested  in science fiction, Dmytro Kravchenko got interested in Harry Potter books. Serhii Myrgorodsky decided to take literature for children to read.

Book Display: Discover USA! Celebrate with Americans!
The Information and Resource Center "Window to America" invites you to study English, the language of international communication, and the culture of the United States of America. Cultural traditions of the USA are like a mosaic – bright and colorful, amazing, attractive and sometimes incredible.
Book and image display «Explore the USA! Celebrate with the Americans!» introduces everyone to the official and religious holidays, the most popular places to meet Christmas or New Year, to the popular musical festivals, sports championships, and the art of the Native Americans.
The exhibition presents educational publications on the US history; various travel guides, local lore editions of the Smithsonian Institute, photo albums, encyclopedias, CDs and DVDs.
The displayed books were donated to the DOUNB library by the US Embassy in Ukraine and the US charity foundation "Sabre-Світло" within the period of 25 years since diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the USA were established.
The display was reviewed by WOA center patrons.

Book Display: Learn English in Our Library

Nobody has been arguing about the importance of learning English as the global language for long now. The library and the information and resource center Window in America invite everyone interested to attend free Basic English and Activate English courses, English speaking club and to watch American feature films.
The information-resource center "Window on America" Dnipro this month presented to its patrons the book display "Learn English in Our Library ".
The display introduces the collection of textbooks, books, audio books, CDs and DVDs available to all those wishing to improve their language skills.
The displayed books were donated to the DOUNB library by the US Embassy in Ukraine and the US charity foundation "Sabre-Light" within the period of 25 years since diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the USA were established.
The display will review by all visitors of WOA center in May.

The display introduces the collection of textbooks, books, audio books, CDs and DVDs available to all those wishing to improve their language skills.
The displayed books were donated to the DOUNB library by the US Embassy in Ukraine and the US charity foundation "Sabre-Light" within the period of 25 years since diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the USA were established.

Discover education system in the USA

Education in the USA display.
The Dnipro Window on America center presented a book & brochure display for the ambitious patrons who consider study abroad.
The recent brochures sent by USA universities interested in Ukrainian students provide a lot of useful information about the study in the USA.
The Universities offer graduate and post graduate courses. Their colorful brochures give details of the courses as well as beautiful images of the campuses in different states.
All WOA’s patrons interested in studying in the USA receive advice about the procedures and the “Education USA” center in Dnipro.
